Around Kalkan
Kalkan is a lovely old fishing town, set in a stunning bay, and now
beautifully adapted to provide excellent holidays for the discerning tourist.
A short boat ride or a five minute drive or taxi ride will take you to Kalkan, with its
picturesque harbour and narrow, cobbled streets packed with fascinating
shops (rugs, clothes, antiques, jewellery, ceramics etc), bars and cafes.
Kalkan has its own small
beach by the harbour and, a short drive from Villa Yasmina you will find Kaputas, a lovely
sandy beach at the foot of a ravine. Also within easy reach is Patara beach, the second
longest in the world.
Kalkan is set in an area
steeped in history, with many ancient sites nearby. These include Xanthos, Letoon, Pinara,
Tlos and Patara. A trip up to the mountains behind Kalkan will take your breath away.
Kalkan and the area offer a
sublime combination of rest and relaxation with opportunities for outdoor activities
in one of the world's finest ecological settings. Watersports include water-skiing,
snorkelling and diving as well as jet-skiing and the fun of being towed in bouncy rubber rings.
Activities and trips are easily arranged.
Have a cocktail
at sunset and watch the breathtaking views of mountain, sea and sky. At night Kalkan comes to life,
with its numerous bars and very high quality restaurants, many at roof terrace level with
stunning views, where you can enjoy excellent food.
